Vrsar was the medieval fishing town built around Kaštela on a hill above the bay. It was developed at the very mouth of the Gulf of Lim. Of the Roman town Ursarija which was along the coast are preserved remains of summer and mosaics, and 13th century have been preserved gates and other cultural and historical monuments. In the core of old town the modern tourist resorts is built on hills covered with pine trees are beautiful view on the archipelago of 18 islands of green beauty. The untouched natural and cultural heritage is beautifully preserved and now makes valuable sights: The Church of St. Foska, remains of Kaštela who was a residence of the Bishop of Porec, the main city gates, streets and squares, the parish church of St. Martin, Old Roman gate of the Church of St. Anthony, the Church of St. George, Roman necropolis, old Christian Basilica, Roman Basilica St. Mary from the sea and abandoned quarries.
Old and abandoned quarry are among the attractions of Vrsar, the stone was taken from there continuously since Roman times.
Montraker
Vrsar is called “Sculpture City” with good reason. The summer school of sculpture is held in deserted quarry Montraker since 1991 which starts in the last week of September. Sculptures from the previous workshops can be seen on the beaches, campsites, and waterfront and city parks.
There is Dusan Dzamonja's sculpture park - open daily from 9:00 to 20:00, closed on Mondays
