Pazin Fair

Tuesday, 3.2.2009.Pazin

Pazin FairThe tradition of market held every first Tuesday in a month origins from remote 1574 when Pazin got a permission to hold a market where agricultural and cattle-raising surpluses of the surrounding areas would be offered. Pazinski samanj is the greatest traditional monthly market in Istria even these days, so visitors from all over the Istria gather in Pazin on that day. Some to buy things a bargain, some to meet again and some just to feel a small part of the unrepeatable atmosphere and to hear the heart of Istria beat. Although the traditional rural products ceded a place to new, more commercial goods, you can still find kosir(a type of a reaping hook) and rankun(the same, but with a longer handle) from the local kovačija (blacksmiths). Pašture(a type of wooden fetters for the cattle) and grablje(rake) manufactured during the fieldwork break can still be fetched. If you do not need them - let them be a reminder of times long ago gone and lost.
