The town of Porec and County Istria are pleased to be the hosts of the European Veterans Championship 2009.
The 8th European Veterans Table Tennis Championship will take place in Poreè, Croatia, from Monday 15.06.2009 to Saturday 20.06.2009.
Poreè, with its 17,000 inhabitants is a place with ideal professional conditions for preparation trainings of many professional sport associations such as football, handball, tennis and table tennis. This was the reason Town Poreè was elected as one of the hosts of the World Handball Championships that will take place in the year 2009 in Croatia.
Without any doubts, Poreè is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Croatia. No other Croatian town has won so many tourist awards and recognitions. Every year, during the winter months, the town is preparing for the summer months, so the tourists can enjoy its full splendour.
Fortunately, the traces of past centuries were not erased in Poreè. These traces are fully visible in the old town core. The luxurious town palaces host the galleries, museums, but also numerous families live there, as they did in the past centuries. This gives the town a special charm.
You can walk through the streets and lanes of the old town which date back to the ancient Roman times. A part of the old city walls and the towers are still preserved. The Euphrasy's Basilica has been opened to public since 2000 as the church museum and the architectural monument. The location for the sport events is beautiful, the facilities to relax are available in many places, and we, the organizers will do our very best to organize the European Championship to the highest standard.
